Handy Owls

My cousin posted a photo on Facebook of a pair of fingerless gloves with owl cables, and I just had to have a pair. There wasn't a link to where the photo came from originally, but the basic pattern looked just like the Au Clair gloves I made recently.

So I used the Au Clair pattern until I reached the end of the wrist portion (I made the shorter version). Then I added the owl cable while I was working on the thumb gusset. And finished it off in plain stockinette after the last cable twist.

Textured Cowl

I picked up two balls of Lang Space last November especially to make a cowl. I chose this textured pattern. The yarn is a fluffy wool blend over a metallic core, so I hoped that the cables would stand out through the fuzziness.

I'm pleased with the way it turned out, although it is fairly large in diameter and height. It could be a poncho for a small framed person.

Vintage Modern Knits

I bought this book because it was on sale through Interweave Press for $15! Such a deal! I loooove the Brigid sweater, but that was the only project I would make (although there are several other tempting ones), so I was looking for a deal.

I think I will use Elann Limited Edition Naples, a tweedy yarn in a mossy green, although I have SweetGeorgia  Superwash Worsted slated for the project on Ravelry...and I've been wanting to knit a project in a tonal yarn.
