Leaflet Complete!

I "finished" this sweater following the instructions, but I just wasn't happy with the length. It was awkwardly almost-too-short, and I had plenty of yarn left to make it longer. One skein of Eco Wool was enough to complete everything except the ribbing around the front neck. So I took off the ribbing and ripped back the bottom ribbing. I did one more repeat of the leaf pattern and then re-did the ribbing. I am much happier with it now!

Noro Silk Garden, color 269

Now I've seen this colorway twice today, and I love it in both projects. This may be the most muted colorway that Noro makes, but it's gorgeous! However, it seems to be discontinued! There is a similar colorway in Kureyon that would work in the patterns.

First pattern: Deille by Mathew Gnagy in Knitting of the Axis. This lace cardigan is knit sideways so that the striping occurs vertically. The subtle monochromatic colors work nicely and don't stand out too much.

Second pattern: Oyster Mittens by Rebecca of "Dolies are Stylish" -- They do look like the pearly inside of an oyster shell or the oyster itself.

Kimono Sweater

Finished! This is "Design #14" by Jenny Watson from the book, Noro Flowers, Book 4. I used Naturally Vero yarn in color #1, Jeweled. The yarn has more purple than I expected, but I am still pleased with the way it turned out. The gauge was right on, and I had a resin button from Stitches West 2010 that looks just right.

The construction of this sweater is unique. There are three rectangular panels for the fronts and back. Then the sleeves and top of the sweater are knit side to side causing vertical stripes. Finally, after sewing the top to the bottoms, you pick up and rib the wide collar. Pretty easy overall, and makes a loose-fitting kimono-style cardigan.

Vintage Modern Knits

I bought this book because it was on sale through Interweave Press for $15! Such a deal! I loooove the Brigid sweater, but that was the only project I would make (although there are several other tempting ones), so I was looking for a deal.

I think I will use Elann Limited Edition Naples, a tweedy yarn in a mossy green, although I have SweetGeorgia  Superwash Worsted slated for the project on Ravelry...and I've been wanting to knit a project in a tonal yarn.

Silk Cardigan is Done!

Finally finished up the short-sleeved silk cardigan. It was a pretty quick knit, but I had some projects for the shop to work on at the same time. I'm pretty happy with it...it could be a little longer and the fit under the arms is a little off...but I love the godets below the waist.

The Ella Rae Shibu was lovely to work with. It was not too stiff, and the slubs give the finished fabric a tweedy look.

I ended up getting buttons at the new Joanns in south San Jose...it's hard to find good buttons, and these were nice and a good value. I needed 10 of them, and finding that quantity is also challenging.
